Occasionally you need to check spelling in an application that does not include a spelling checker and you don't want to launch your word processor just for
that. This is when tinySpell becomes handy. It is a small utility that allows you to easily and quickly check and correct the spelling in any Windows application.
tinySpell can watch your typing on the fly and alert you whenever it detects a misspelled word.
It can also check the spelling of text that you copy to the clipboard.
tinySpell installs itself in the taskbar notification area for easy access.

Download tinySpell or tinySpell+.
Note that you can try tinySpell+ before you buy.
Both variants have installed versions and portable versions.
|
Checking your spelling is simple: |
Option 1:
While you are typing, tinySpell watches the text you enter and whenever it detects a misspelled word it beeps and shows a spelling tip, and the tinySpell taskbar icon turns from white to yellow .
Option 2:
When you copy text to the clipboard tinySpell checks its spelling immediately. If it finds at least one misspelled word in the text it beeps and turns its icon to
yellow.
Correcting a misspelled word is also simple: |
When a misspelled word is detected, click the tinySpell taskbar icon or press the hot-key to pop up a list of suggested replacement words. If the misspelled
word is detected during on-the-fly checking or after a word is copied to the clipboard you can select a correction from the list. The selected word is inserted into your document, or is copied to the clipboard (so you can paste it
in your document), or both (depending on your settings). |

Download the Portable versions:
The portable versions of tinySpell and tinySpell+ do not require installation, just download and extract the tinySpell or tinySpell+ folder from the zip file to your drive (including USB drives). All settings and
data are stored in the tinySpell/tinySpell+ folder.
To run the portable version: open the tinySpell or tinySpell+ folder and double-click "tinySpellp.exe" or "tinySpellp+.exe".
For installation details - see Installation below.
Important notes regarding tinySpell+ portable:
• Installing tinySpell+ on a portable drive requires a separate license, with one exception: you may install the portable version of tinySpell+ on one portable drive in addition to the PC installation, using the same license, provided that you are the only user of both installations. Any additional installation requires a new license.
• tinySpell+ portable might not register on some drives. So if you try to unlock it and get the message: "Cannot register tinySpell+ portable on this device" it means that the drive is not compatible with tinySpell+. |

Two types of dictionaries are supported.
Hunspell Dictionaries:
Hunspell dictionaries are used by many popular programs, such as OpenOffice, LibreOffice, FreeOffice, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome. Hunspell dictionaries can be downloaded for free from various sites (for example, Hunspell Dictionaries), and are available in many languages.
Installation and setup instructions are found here: Hunspell installation guide, and in the tinySpell+ Help topic Hunspell dictionaries.
Legacy Dictionaries:
The legacy dictionaries are available in ten languages. Installation and setup instructions are found in the tinySpell+ Help topic Legacy dictionaries. We recommend
using the Hunspell dictionaries which are more up-to-date and are available in many more languages.
